Internships and Cooperative Education

Establish a presence on campus by hiring Gator Engineers in career-related positions and allowing them to build professional skills and contacts.

Internships

Allow students to work in paid or volunteer positions for one or more semesters. You have the flexibility to set general guidelines for student participation, although if the internship earns academic credit, there may be additional guidelines.

Co-ops

Hire students for multiple semesters. The program typically runs three semesters for engineering majors, and positions must be paid and approved by academic apartments.

There are two co-op plans:

Alternating Plan:

Students alternate between semesters of work and semesters of school. Engineering majors usually complete three work semesters.

Parallel Plan:

Students work a minimum of 20 hours per week within commutable distance from the Gainesville area while continuing to take classes full-time. Undergraduate engineering majors must complete six semesters of parallel experience.

To create an internship or co-op, you may need academic approval.
